Stefan Rusu
Stefan Rusu (born in 1964, Kâietu, Moldova) is a visual artist, curator, editor, and filmmaker working and living in Chișinău and Bucharest. Rusu was trained as a visual artist and has extended his practice to curating and editing TV programmes, producing experimental films, documentaries and video installations. Selected solo exhibitions: Instant Ecstasy, HT003 Gallery, Bucharest (2003); Alchimiolemia, HEDAH Foundation Gallery, Maastricht (1998); Clouds and Waves, within the framework of the second annual exhibition of CSAC, Chișinău (1997). Stefan has participated in a number of group exhibitions. His works have been exhibited at the Contemporary Art Museum Saint Louis, The Renaissance Society in Chicago; Outpost for Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; TATE Gallery London,; Zacheta National Gallery of Art, Warsaw; Neue Gesellschaft fur Bildende Kunst – NGBK, Berlin; Brukental Museum, Sibiu; Sammlung Essl Klosterneuburg, Vienna; Arsenal Gallery, Byalistok; Kalmar Art Museum, Kalmar; VILTIN Gallery, Hungary, etc.; and film festivals – Impakt, Utrecht; Images Festival, Toronto; Transmediale-06, Berlin; VIPER, Basel, etc. In 2012 he participated in the 7th Berlin Biennial with an investigative documentary Reclaiming the City. He lives and works in Chișinău and Bucharest.
