Mehreen Murtaza

Mehreen Murtaza (born in 1986, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) completed her BFA with Honors from Beaconhouse National University, Lahore in May 2008, received a post graduate diploma in teaching from Beaconhouse National University in 2009. In her digital art, Mehreen dissects consumption patterns, and attempts to understand the intersecting worlds of technology and nature. Solo exhibitions: Score for a Film, Experimenter, Kolkata (2013); Transmissions from a Missing Satellite, Frame, Frieze London (2013); Crisis Apparitions, Art Dubai (2012); Who Are You, Defenders of the Universe?, Grey Noise and Experimenter, Kolkata (2010). Mehreen Murtaza has participated in more than 50 group exhibitions all over the world, including Art Dubai; Indian Art Fair; 5th Fukuoka Asian Art Triennial; 55th Venice Biennale; 3rd Moscow International Biennale for Young Art, Moscow; Feminist Festival of Media Arts + Digital Culture, Studio XX Media Arts Centre, Montreal (2014). Murtaza is a recipient of the Follow Fluxus Award – After Fluxus, Nassauischer Kunstverein Wiesbaden, Germany (2015); Gasworks: The Charles Wallace Pakistan Trust Rangoonwa la Foundation Award, London (2009). She lives and works in Lahore.
